Satellite Atlas “Google Earth” is now available in version 5.0 which comes with a new, exciting feature: The integrated module “Google Ocean” with which you can dive to the seabed, explore the oceans, visit famous shipwrecks, and stay informed on the flora and fauna in the world’s oceans. While the visibility in the water has been cleaned up, everything you see is based on actual data. It’s not quite swimming with the fishes, but it will let you see where they live.

When zoomed in to the sea surface appears transparent. Dive under water, you see the ocean floor in 3D and navigate with the arrow keys or a mouse by the oceans. The functional area of Google Ocean contains 20 levels, including:

  • The sea explore photographs and videos to global sights under the water, provided by more than 80 organizations and individuals.
  • Marine protected areas: information on endangered and protected areas around the Great Barrier Reef Australia before.
  • Animal tracking the migration routes of marine animals, with satellite transmitters.
  • Seafood Watch: Information on the harmful effects of overfishing.
  • Cousteau’s World of the Sea: Great videos from the archives of the famous ocean explorer Jacques Cousteau, including previously unpublished material.

  • Shipwrecks: The remains of ships and ship known cemeteries on the seabed.

Google Earth 5.0 also comes with a touring feature where users can record, save and playback recorded sessions from any angle, for playback later. The update also includes a look at Mars in 3-D, where users can view the red planet in high-revolutionary imagery.

Apart from Google Oceans and Touring feature, The newly updated Google Earth 5.0 allows users to take a trip back in time with the historical imagery, where available to see how land and buildings have changed over the years.
